Welcome to Zenbat Gara

Zenbat Gara is a culture associtation devoted to promoting the Basque language so that speakers can live everyday life completely in euskara. We want to create a Basque speaking environment in Bilbao, a reference for Basque spakers in a city in which euskara is a minority language, organizing various initiatives.

Learning Basque is not enough, so we organize activities to reinforce motivation: ateliers, concerts, dance courses, activities for children, youth and adults...

Academic learning of a language may not be enough, but it's important, so we have a Basque academy in Bilbao with 1.500 students learning euskara. Moreover, we've created a small Basque speaking universe which includes a radio station, the konpartsa Algara, the Gara publishing house, Zenbat Gara magazine...

Kafe Antzokia, the main Basque culture venue in Bilbao is also promoted by Zenbat Gara. Here, many non-Basque speakers have their first encounter with our language. Moreover, the Kafe Antzokia in Ondarroa and the Arrigorri seaside inn are promoted by Zenbat Gara..
